Aftercare

You got a tattoo! Now what?

1.
STEP 1: KEEP IT CLEAN : DRY-LOCK BANDAGE
• Remove the bandage after 4 hours (if the tattoo was finished in the evening, it's okay to sleep with the bandage on).
• Wash the tattoo thoroughly with your hand, warm water, and antibacterial soap in the shower. Pat it dry, do not rub, do not re-bandage.
• Carefully apply a thin layer of unscented lotion twice a day until it's healed. (No Aloe Vera, Vitamin E, or Vaseline on a healing tattoo.)
• The tattoo may weep a little ink and blood for up to 48 hours; this is normal.
2.
STEP 2: THE "DO NOT" LIST
• DO NOT go swimming. This includes recreational swimming, soaking in bathtubs, pools, jacuzzis, the ocean, etc. For at least 2 weeks after the tattoo is fully healed.  (Showers are okay.)
• DO NOT let animals come in contact with your tattoo. (If so, wash immediately with antibacterial soap.)
• DO NOT expose a new tattoo to direct sunlight until it's fully healed. DO NOT apply sunblock to a tattoo until it's fully healed
• DO NOT pick or scratch your tattoo! It may flake or scab; this is completely normal.
3.
STEP 3: BE CONSCIOUS AND CLEAN
• Check on the healing of your tattoo at all times. Do not over-sweat, do not touch the tattoo with dirty hands.
• Treat the tattoo like you would any other skin abrasion by keeping it clean regularly.
